Comments of a DeeJay
So, I'm driving home tonight after a perfectly lovely evening and I switch to a radio station that's actually playing music. Well, once the music ends, this deejay comes on and starts ranting about how some star of The Sipranos had said something about how he couldn't believe that the repugs were in his city. This deejay starts quoting something Bush read from a teleprompter and then said he hoped the actor was upset ono 9/11 when his fellow residents of NYC were killed.

You know, this is what bugs me. What most of us liberals are saying is (basically -- I'm not trying to speak for everyone, just making a point) that 9/11 happened and then Bush and his cronies turned the world against us by fighting a war that they wanted to fight -- not one that went after the people who were responsible for 9/11 nor people who were planning another such attack. But now repugs like this deejay think some how that they have the moral high ground talking about 9/11! I just don't get it. I don't even know why I try to understand.

About 5 years ago, I read the comments of an author that I really admire saying that she felt that some humans have evolved to another level while some are still stuck at the old level. At the time, I thought this was a terribly elitist thing to say. Now, I'm thinking it would explain an awful lot ...

Okay. Thanks for letting me vent.

1. They own "patriotism"
That is what they believe. Wrapping themselves in the flag and mentioning Jesus and God whenever they can gives them the right. What's even worse is that people fall for it. We have these Neocons getting teary-eyed talking about God, then a breath later they are laughing at the "awesomeness" of Shock and Awe (remember that old favorite? I like to write it "Shock'n'Awe").

You mention some people evolving while others don't. I guess you could say that some people are more intelligent than others, and some people are content with what they already know and don't seek out new knowledge (Bush, for example).Anyway, I think you're going to love this quote.

"As people do better, they start voting like Republicans...
...unless they have too much education and vote Democratic,
which proves there can be too much of a good thing."

-KARL ROVE, Bush's long-time political guru and White House adviser

(I guess Karl doesn't think too highly of Republican voters)

5. The latter, most likely
Sure, we started out with 31 nations, but how many do you think stuck around after no WMD's were found? How many more stuck it out to see if the whole WMD thing would pan out, only to pull back when there wasn't any? How many more left after the whole reason for starting the war went from "Oh he's got WMD's and yellocake uranium, etc., etc" to "Hey, he's a bad man, so we're going to get him."? Who is still there today?
