God Bless America
I am writing a book about the religious right.

Is the phrase "God Bless...." a typical American phrase?

Do the Germans have their "God Bless Germany"?
Do the French have their "God Bless France"?
Do the British have their "God Bless Britain"?

Thanks.

2. If you are really writing a book, you should consider other sources
for material to be cited.

3. God Bless America and to Hell with Everybody Else...
I'm sick and tired of God Bless America as if God only made America and Americans. Now we have to deal with God only made Republicans to inhabit America. Bunch of shit.

5. i found this interesting....
got it from : http://www.deism.com/DeistAmerica.htm
Romans 13:1-2
"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves."
maybe this is why they think bush is divine?

9. First of all, it was the letter of St. Paul TO the Romans.
Fundies hardly ever quote Christ, but they love to quote Paul.

Second, how would that scriptural passage apply to their own behavior during the Clinton administration?

4. I think there's irony in that...
i know this is kinda off the question, but how many fundies do you hear say "god bless America" and then believe that this nation was founded on christianity?
The irony there is that this country was founded by deists - George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin. Deism is a belief that arose during the enlightenment that basically God created the world, then abandoned it - allowing to run on its own without any supernatural intervention or scriptures. http://www.deism.com/DeistAmerica.htm
So, with those religious beliefs creating this country, then how could god possibly bless anything, let alone this country?

very popular in the Nazi era. And, of course, "Deutschland uber alles." Hope this helps.
