Do you agree with Wal-Mart's use of "Happy Holidays" in ads?
No 58%
Yes 21%
I don't care 20%
Total Votes: 83,079

Needs lots more help.

On edit: The way the question is asked, I almost regret now that I didn't select the 'I don't care' option! Really, this is stupid.

7. I''ve never seen people treat a non-issue

so seriously. First of all, a "religious" guy in a Santa suit pissed that Wal Mart isn't saying "Merry Christmas" in it's ads? That's laughable. Secondly, even though I'd never set foot in Wal-Mart, apparently their advertising department recognizes that a good percentage of their customers don't celebrate Christmas. Therefore, in an effort to be inclusive, the ad copy reads "Happy Holidays" and can be interpreted to mean any holiday celebrated at this time of year. Why anyone is getting worked up over this is beyond me.

8. I won't participate in that poll...
...because I simply don't give a shit about anything WalMart does or doesn't do during the holidays, and I certainly don't give a shit about what some religious idiots think about WalMart! WalMart and the Whackos can seriously ALL go SCREW THEMSELVES! What the heck... that goes for AOL as well!

12. Just another diversion away from the Katrena mess, Abramoff,
also, NYT piece of wire tapping. They've kept this bs going all through the holidays. I wonder what they will do next. God help us all.

10. No, I'm tired of the BS distractions. If they want to declare the War
on Christmas won or lost, blame it all on me - I refuse to play along any more.

The President of the US has broken the law and is spying on us. They've authorized people to be detained without trials, they've gutted meaningful parts of the Constitution and I have bigger things to worry about then this made up War on Christmas shit.

13. Is this a trick question?
o you agree with Wal-Mart's use of "Happy Holidays" in ads?
No 55%
Yes 23%
I don't care 22%

I voted yes I agree with Wal-mart's use of Happy Holidays, but wait, this is Wal-mart. Am I supposed to be agreeing with them? Well in this case I guess they are correct not to ignore the spiritualities practiced by the millions of slave laborers who produce their products.

Actually I think retailers believe they can gain more revenue with the word Holidays than Christmas. So their motives are not entirely altruistic. But given the choice, I would prefer materialism to be associated with the word Holidays and preserve the sanctity of Christmas.

15. Re:
This is such a non-issue.

I'm not saying that to criticize whoever started this thread but to criticize the right-wingers who perpetuate this BS.

Christianity has been around for over 2,000 years. I highly doubt that a clerk at Wal-Mart saying "happy holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" will cause Christianity - as well as Christmas - to implode. Since when was Wal-Mart so important anyway?

And to say that this is an example of the "persecution of Christians" in America is beyond absurd. We Christians have been called the "majority religion" in this country. To say that a majority religion is persecuted in a country is an outright lie.

I think that stuff like this is a spoiled-brat response to the fact that Christianity is no longer enjoying the precedence it once enjoyed in American society. Our population is filling up with non-Christians, and right-wing Christians can't handle it - they want control. So they invent fairy tales such as this one to galvanize their supporters and play the victim card.

The people who talk about the "war on Christmas" are actually pretty two-faced. They demand religious freedom, but only when it applies to them and not any other religion in America.
