On Monday September 1st, the Dallas Morning News ran a short editorial on the increasing loss of middle class white collar jobs overseas.
The article is not online but basically supported the policy of free trade and ended with the admission that there was no good defense for the policy with tangible job losses.
My response.
Your Worst Nightmare
Re: "Jobs Increasingly Going Overseas," Editorials, Sep, 01.
There are two things you got right editors. White collar, middle class jobs are going overseas and those that support free trade have no answers.
While you take your usual jab at democrat Bill Clinton, you make no mention that the free trade policy is equally endorsed by George Bush. As Ross Perot so eloquently told us "just wait, you will hear a giant sucking sound" as good jobs disappear down the free trade drain. He was right, you are wrong.
What you fail to understand is that I and others are your worst nightmare: white, educated, intelligent, articulate, and angry. I take every opportunity to bend the ear of others. Like the visit I made last May, to the offices of Senator Hutchinson, Cornyn, and Representative Sessions, for a chat with staffers.
After laying my BSEE, MBA, DD214, and Commercial Pilot License on the table, there was stunned silence in the room when I said "we have a problem in this country when someone with such experience, education, and training cannot find a job."
What you should know is that the chorus of discontent is growing and it is aimed at both free traders and the present administration. In militant terms, it seems that "the man" wants all God's children to be slaves. Economic slaves that is!
