Economist urges Canada to invest in productivity
http://209.47.1.199/infomart/20030918/2/20030918.001.1.html

Canada must act to improve its productivity by easing labour-market obstacles and increasing investment in training and production equipment, the chairman of brokerage firm BMO Nesbitt Burns said yesterday.

He called on companies to spend more on training and modernizing equipment, noting Canada spends less on modernizing production equipment than the United States and several other OECD countries.

"The lag in investment is particularly important in the areas of machinery, production equipment and technology," he said.

Hopefully they buy Canadian machinery, production equipment and technology.
