no increase in Average hourly income after inflation since 11/01 - but
Edited on Mon Sep-18-06 08:59 PM by papau
the DOL is saying average weekly earnings have increased 4.2% over the past year.

The DOL's actual press release says real average weekly earnings fell by 0.5% in August, 0.3% decline in average weekly hours and a 0.4% increase in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) were partially offset by 0.1% rise in average hourly earnings. It also says that from August 2005 to August 2006, average weekly earnings have risen 4.2% after seasonal adjustment. I decised to check this because I like most others have learned Bush released numbers tend to lie.

I FOUND THAT AFTER ADJUSTMENT FOR INFLATION THE AVERAGE HOURLY WAGE IS STUCK AT $8.15. IT DID NOT INCREASE ONE PENNY OVER THE PAST YEAR. SO IS THE WEEKING EARNINGS INCREASE BECAUSE WE ARE WORKING 4.2% MORE HOURS?

For BS with charts see: http://www.dol.gov/asp/media/reports/workforce2006/ADW2006_Full_Text.pdf

2. I agree - the wage gain is all in the upper income population - and there
Edited on Mon Sep-18-06 09:01 PM by papau
it is extremely concentrated in the very highest income crowd - the top 1/10 of 1% of the population.
