Does it matter to you, when choosing a product, how the laborer that produced it is treated? Are you willing to buy fancy designer label clothes knowing that they were sewn by child laborers sold into servitude by their desperate parents? Or does that knowledge dissuade you from buying fancy designer labels?

who do you think is supplying the labor? The driver? Not really. Just sitting on his or her ass holding the reins. Yes, the horse is the laborer in that particular scenario. And yes, if I had the money, I would pay a lot to ride in a carriage drawn by a well-compensated horse. Although frankly, my horses prefer dining out in a lush pasture to eating in any restaurants, vegetarian or otherwise.

I'm glad your laborer's in the 2nd scenario are fed enough plain food.
