Economic Populist Posts
Hi There.

There are some very good posts on The Economic Populist right now.

  1. First up is Manufacturing Tuesday. This is a weekly series with the latest economic data and what is going on in the United States manufacturing sector. Manufacturing is so ignored and critical to the U.S. economy. Come over and give manufacturing some love.

  2. Next is a post proving how the US economy simply cannot survive on Services alone, The U.S. Economy Cannot Survive on The Services Sector. Breaks down the Macro economic statistics on the services sector plus this blogger specializes in green, innovative technology and goes into policy to make that happen.

  3. A post on why the Auto industry should get the money. Give Them the Money.

  4. Finally MidTownG points out the fundamental flaws on what is wrong with U.S. economy policy in How Could They Let This Happen?

The Economic Populist is an all things economic community blog and forum, and many people also blog on DU, DK, OL and so on. We've been having exceptional posts as of late, these are just a few.

2. come visit
I can't repost because for one these are not my posts plus DU is incompatible format wise. But we are getting some very serious thinkers using EP these days and the insights are phenomenal.

3. Thanks for the recs
EP is a community blog and forum, similarly to DU, but it's pure econ. We invite ya all to register, comment and comments are threaded so you can have a conservation, much like DU.

We're trying to get people to put much more focus on all things $$$$$ because that is really where policy, agenda, even war is happening and unfortunately when numbers come into play many people turn off their analytical brains. So, when it comes to places corporate lobbyists love to manipulate, it's precisely those areas where numbers come into play because they know most people will get lost in the numbers, in the theory and thus not pay attention.

Hey man, we're college educated, we can indeed pay attention. Come help get the focus in what is really going on.

Right now the TARP, the financial giveaway, the details just isn't getting the press and outrage it should. I think it's because the numbers are so massive, so huge, few realize that $700 Billion is about 20 times larger than what the entire auto industry wants.

If one puts it in terms of salary, if you made 20 times more than what you make now, what would that mean to you?

If your dog pooped twenty times more per day, what would that mean? That would mean your dog turned into an Elephant.

Give people a sense of the magnitude, of proportion here.

4. Oh gosh, this stuff makes my head spin.
I really wish I'd dedicated more of my formative education to economics. That said, I can smell bullshit when it's right in front of me. Globalization, trickle down economics, and now bailing out financial institutions who screwed up just don't make sense to me. Also, it's so obvious that the automakers are being raked over the coals so they can get rid of unions once and for all. That's why I like Economic Populist. Important information is explained in a clear and accessible manner.

5. thanks
The comments are threaded (but people have to hit reply) and most blog authors are posting in the comments so they will explain something and others can discuss if it's not clear. Generally the site is pretty civil too, which is a lovely change!
