1. It is a Depression
Your 9/11 comments are really interesting. We see it the same way.
It was a horror show and they keep it going.

2. Right now I am video taping the State of the Union address because
I could have sworn I heard Shrub say we gained jobs the first time I heard the speech. I literally fell off the end of the couch.

3. Parsing the language
Chimpy McCokespoon indeed said, correctly, that "jobs are on the rise." By that, he meant that a grand total of 1,000 jobs were created in December -- not even close to enough just to keep up with population growth, let alone any economic expansion. He also didn't mention the millions of jobs lost since the beginning of his term.

But once again, in true Rovian fashion, he didn't actually lie. He used selective truth-telling to pull another fast one over on us. Except seems that America didn't fall for it this time.

4. as long as I know people who are looking for jobs
and that those of us hanging on to jobs are scared to death of this piss-poor economy, I will know that these thieving bastards are lying with their THE ECONOMY IS IMPROVING garbage.

5. 2 ways to measure 'jobs' in US. Repubs are starting to say that 1.5 millio
they use the 'household' survey to say that 1.5 million jobs have been created as used-to-be unemployed people take up 'self-employment'.

So they are saying that 1.5 million people who have fallen off the back end of the UI line are now 'self-employed'. But, to go look at the fed and survey numbers for income, and you find that these newly 'self-employed' peoples are making 1.9 cents to the dollar based against their previous wage (as a mean). So make almost 2 cents on the buck and you are self-employed?

Call that subsistence or worse.

And I am nearly there. One more month and unemployed one year to date.

At over 50 I hear from WA STATE UI crew that the average time for job hunt in my age bracket is now 19 months. And then can expect to find work at 1/4 of what I last made.

Well, things are getting worse up here in the great PNW/Inland Empire.

I have no idea where those 1000 jobs were created, but sure as hell weren't here.

8. Hi Junker, 43 Months of Unemployment Here, No Job In Sight!
Went to job fair last Tuesday.

3000 people for 300 positions.

All sales, no high tech to be found!

Very depressing!
