Twenty-five People at the Heart of the Meltdown

Twenty-five People at the Heart of the Meltdown

guardian.co.uk

The worst economic turmoil since the Great Depression is not a natural phenomenon but a man-made disaster in which we all played a part. In the second part of a week-long series looking behind the slump, Guardian City editor Julia Finch picks out the individuals who have led us into the current crisis. NOTE: The American public is listed down toward the end. Me thinks there are others who should be included but have been left off. Like the whole of the Carlyle Group, etc. The American Public should not even be on this list.

Alan Greenspan, chairman of US Federal Reserve 1987- 2006
Mervyn King, governor of the Bank of England
    Bill Clinton, former US president
    Gordon Brown, prime minister
George W Bush, former US president
    Senator Phil Gramm

3. I lost interest when they blamed Bill Clinton for that act that a
republican senator was really responsible for.

4. RE "American people" and simply having said "just said no"
It's kind of hard to survive under a debt-based monetary system when all you can do is just say no to credit! How does one do that?

5. Last night the History Channel
Edited on Mon Jan-26-09 01:41 PM by Froward69
ran a documentary comparing this recession to the great Depression. at the very beginning the finger got pointed straight at Ol Phil Graham...

although it did not say he was directly to blame.. "viewing like pravda" one could see he was at the top of the list of not learning true history. and thus repeating bad decisions in history.

those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.

6. Is my soon-to-be-ex-brother-in-law on there?
He himself says he was responsible for a good bit of the mortgage backed securities mess.
