So 50,000 + the ripple effect from those 50,000 + all the small companies that didn't make the news.

And as always the stock markets react to workers getting sacked with a big thumbs up.

13. I have to wonder whether the executives that cut all these jobs

realize the additional damage that they inflict on the economy.

Could they have just cut the pay of all by 20%, instead of letting go of 20% of the work force?

Obviously, if no one is buying there is no need for a large sales force. On the other hand, last two weeks I was trying to reach a banker, at two different banks, and was on hold for about half an hour.. just to get to a gate keeper. I hung up after that.
