1. I've been asking this for a while now.
Gas has continued to go up for the last 4 weeks yet oil is going down. The local refineries have put a halt to gasoline production for 3 weeks because all their storage tanks are full!!!!

We are in a glut of oil AND gasoline yet gas prices are going up???!!!

of getting a Fed investigation for price fixing? Something here just doesn't add up!!

2. It's simple supply & demand.
They have the supply & they're demanding high prices for it. They have figured out that conspiracy in the form of price-rigging is more profitable than competition.

You know the Golden Rule--those who have the gold make the rules.

This is the Oily Rule variation. Those who have the oil make the rules.

5. It has never been "supply and demand"
It has always been "what the market will bare". Capitalism 101.

17. It's useless to try and inject some rational
thought into a gas price bashing thread. It's all a vast conspiracy. Supply and demand have nothing to do with it.

9. yes they said they did not want prices to continue down - so they cut production
to get prices higher - once people save anywhere - the corporations, state governments, etc want to tax, raise prices, etc to keep their income the same while making sure everyone else gets less - local electric company said it was going to raise prices since people were using less electricity

8. Spring Break is coming.
Travel Season. High Demand, so they decrease the production to milk us for everything they can?

10. I'm for term limits and capping lobbies
I read the same thing on Yahoo finace few weeks ago. Refineries are cutting back production so they can make more money.

I wish the gov. would create an energy policy. I think we have seen enough $$$ damage already. If we would have in some why controlled inflation in Energy, Education, Health Care & Regulated the damn bankers. I don't think we'd have all the problems we have now. I'm for term limits and capping lobbies.

12. Our prices also rose last week and early this week, but they went down
5 cents today. I'm hoping they will continue, as I'm almost dry.

13. Same here. Most of December prices have been around $1.65
even $1.59 - a competition of two stations.

Now it is up to $189 and even $1.95. $2.00 is just around the corner. And it is not as if there is much demand. I drive the same roads at the same time around rush hour and it is clear that traffic has reduced significantly.

16. Seasonal?

Unleaded Gas (NYM): (High: Apr-May//Low: Dec) Driving conditions worst in winter (Dec-Feb).

**Inventory building begins in March and peaks by Memorial Day (late May), traditional opening of US vacation and driving season.**

Heaviest consumption ends Labor Day (early Sep). Purchases delayed at end of year to avoid year-end inventory tax.

Notice the low in mid Feb? Get ready for over $2 by Memorial day. And my guess would be that we might never see under $2 again.

This isn't Kansas anymore...people should get used to change...downsize?
