Roubini: How Long Will the Recession Last?
Edited on Tue Feb-10-09 10:30 AM by RedEarth
In depth interview on Bloomberg. Roubini covers all aspects of the economic crisis and since it's not on CNBC he actually is allowed the time to give his opinion without being interrupted by three or four talking heads(like they do on Squawk Box).

1. Right now the economy is catering
to people that are working. Therefore the recession will not end. Until the economy addresses new jobs the recession will continue. Remember, if you have a job, you still have an income. They are trying to keep this economy alive that created unemployment.

2. My pessimistic opinion? 2 - 3 more years.
The stimulus package probably won't cure the recession/depression, but will determine how bad of a free-fall we go into. Essentially, the bigger the package and the sooner it passes, the less of a free-fall we experience. Then gradually (probably through a combination of job creation, quantitative easing, and direct government investment in our economy) we'll start to pull out of it. But I really don't think we'll start to see any real indicators of success until the fourth quarter 2009.
