For example, I was on jury duty today and was fortunate enough to be at a court that had PC's and the Internet available.
The woman next to me kept sighing and mumbling in an obvious attempt to get my attention. I finally succumbed and she began complaining about the stimulus bill and how "porkulous" it was. I replied that the real "pork" had been in the Bailout and that this bill would at least create jobs. I asked what "pork" she was referring to and she, surprisingly" couldn't come up with any.
A few hours later she nudged me and showed me a Fox news report on Pork in the bill. I looked at it and told her that I didn't consider Fox to be a reliable source at all but that even what they were reporting as "pork" (battered woman's shelters, children's funds, etc.) were not really "pork" but that I agreed that they probably weren't stimulus either and probably didn't belong in the same bill. (Trying my best to give her something.)
She then went on to say that the thing that really bothered her the most was that people who didn't pay taxes at all could get money back. I replied that anyone who works or buys anything in our state pays plenty of taxes and that the poor pay a tax on 100% of their income since they spend it all just to survive.
She had no reply to that so she turned to the "liberal" media. That nearly left me speechless but I did manage a "ha" and a chuckle. She then stated that we no longer should speak to which I graciously agreed.
