I posted something about this earlier this week. I have a mortgage thru Citibank I was told earlier this week from Citi, HUD, and Hope Hotline that you cannot qualify for the program if you are receiving unemployment. Well, after calling for 3 days various agencies I finally got directed to The Office Of Home Preservation (CITI) and yes, they do consider unemployment as income. I know this works as in all matters but if you are or may be in trouble you have to keep pushing. ALL of the representatives that I spoke with in these last few weeks, were not informed of how the plan works. I've had to explain it to them. You can find lender guidelines at MakingHomeAffordable.Gov It is a pdf file make sure you read it so the people they hired in the last few weeks cannot push you off. I almost resigned myself to eventually losing my home.
Before I get flamed, I have held a modest mortgage for 10 yrs. Never late, still current. I bought below my means at a fixed conv. mortgage. I lost my job in August 2008, still looking, for something part-time til my Union calls me back to work. My cars are paid-off, 9 and 10 yrs old. I own nothing else extravagant, Flat Screens, Boats, new furniture etc.. My Local has experienced a downturn in work since 2001, it picked up a little in 2007, now we have 1900 people out of work.
