1. What's so funny about people getting jobs for clean up?
I can't figure out if you're making fun of the people, BP, or the WH.

4. It's all spin
Including those numbers to say the economy is growing is very laughable and just like the with the chest thumping with the thousands of census workers (who are all out of work again), so soon will all the clean-up workers as American's short attention span and the media has moved on to other diversions.

6. Are you sure?
I've never heard jobs called spin before. Paychecks trump unemployment anytime, even for a short time.

And expected. That puts you on the bottom of the list.

2. Then they will probably be "jobs lost" soon.
It's criminal that BP gets away with poisoning us with their crap and gets to save money on the cleanup.

5. And glad to be too but....
...it would be stupid to claim those jobs were created based on a rip-roaring economy. On NPR this week they reported that over two thirds of the original clean-up workers have been let go now that all the TV cameras are gone and the government and BP says everything is honky dorey again.

11. You already know that they are jobs created. Every disaster
has created jobs for some people. I understand your frustration with the numbers, and where the numbers come from. But I have not seen any great rip-roaring employment figures that indicate the oil clean-up is fueling (pun) the economy. Jobs created are jobs created, but there is still no change in the % unemployed from what I have heard.

12. We always have more wars we could start too
They keep the defense contractor's and Halliburton's payrolls stacked and all of our politician's portfolios fat and happy.

13. Sadly, this is true. But at least as far as we know right now,
the oil spill was not intentional nor was it an act of aggression. If it created jobs, this is just what happens. Jobs are created by all sorts of disaster, but that is not to say anyone wants those disasters. Even the funeral industry could do very well if there was an epidemic killing thousands, but I doubt that they are rooting for one. It just happens sometimes that jobs are created by nasty things.

14. Not intentional is questionable in BP's case
Greed, negligence and "intentionally" cutting corners to save a buck???

Not even comparable to a natural disaster by mother nature, more comparable to a forest fire started by an arsonist for kicks.

15. I think that BP was totally negligent, but
The comparison you use is heavy-handed. An arsonist starts a forest fire intentionally. Maybe BP is closer to a camper who is too lazy to put out his marshmallow roast completely---stupid, careless, and inexcusable, but not for kicks. You go too far---at least from what we know at this time. Who knows what will come to light down the road---maybe they did want to murder their employees and create a huge oil spill. But we will have to wait on that news.

18. There will be an argument over that
BP hired all those workers to clean up a mess they caused but Obama is saying those jobs were "created" because of all the great work he's doing.
