Fresh Air Radio - Reich Blames Economy's Woes On Income Disparity
Interesting interview.
Reich seems to be anticipating major problems from the continuing income/class inequities:

Economist Robert Reich isn't surprised at the anemic economic recovery from the meltdown in 2008. His new book, Aftershock: The Next Economy and America's Future, argues that the economy isn't going to get moving again until we address a fundamental problem: the growing concentration of wealth and income among the richest Americans.

3. The U.S. economy is going through a structural change. It isn't ever going back to the way it was.
Edited on Thu Sep-30-10 02:26 AM by Dover

The global economy and the shift away from a U.S. dollar world currency standard will continue to impact us negatively, not to mention all
the abuses of the 'supercapitalist' model via the creation of questionable
and unregulated derivatives and other instruments.

However if we are changing structurally it is unclear what the new model will be, and especially since it seems the wealthiest don't seem to have any incentive or desire to consider the big picture. They are simply playing the same game ... business as usual. And we have enabled them to
continue their gambling addictions by handing them more chips after losing their (and our!) shirts.
