Malawi will this year earn $156-million dollars from tobacco, its chief export crop, a small drop on last year's export revenue, a senior tobacco official said on Friday.
Godfrey Chapola, general manager of the crop watchdog Tobacco Control Commission told AFP the receipts would be a five percent drop from last year's sales of $163-million.
"The reduction in revenue is a result of a lower marketed crop and lower prices in general," Chapola said.
