Who's-Who Of Everyone Named In The Huge Insider Trading Investigation
The FBI's huge investigation into institutional insider trading is apparently close to a turning point - they could charge the largest number of people in history with participating in a vast insider trading "ring" "within weeks," a person familiar with the situation told Reuters.

UPDATE: The feds just raided three hedge funds tied to the scandal.

The people who the government will name is unknown at the moment, but we have an idea of more than a few people who have been implicated.

The government is trying to bust traders/people at Jennison, Wellington, MFS, Citadel, Maverick, Goldman Sachs and SAC Capital, one of the most prestigious - and "squeaky clean" - hedge funds in the world.

on top of a pair of master's degrees in public health and international relations. Either she's leaning toward a political career, after all, or she came up with the perfect excuse for leaving!

2. great -- glead to see it and all -- but if the consequences aren't tough
and don't involve taking their wealth -- then ultimately
it was a risk worth taking for these guys.

3. I concur.
Any and all "ill-gotten gains" should be confiscated, and I don't care if they've put it in their wife's name, their kids' college fund account, or some overseas bank. Any and all wealth obtained through fraudulent activities should be forfeit PLUS punitive fines and jail time.

That's the only way to stop it. Make it not pay.

Is it interesting and/or significant that the case is being pursued by the FBI rather than the SEC? I don't know much about these investigations.

5. when i first heard about this and saw that it was the FBI -- i thought there
might be something with more teeth.

but really we live in an age where the laws aren't applied equally at all.

am i going to wake up and find these guys have treated like the criminals they are and their ill gotten gains confiscated?
i'm not holding my breath.

i think we'll see a couple take the fall for all the rest.

8. FBI=criminal SEC= civil charges, only has power to fine and "disbar"
or what ever banning trading is called.

Which is why I am hopeful that FBI is involved, and if they are following usual pattern of going after low hanging fruit to get to higher hanging fruit.......

ahh..never hurts to dream.

6. They should take them down to their last shit stained pair of underwear!
I'd love to see them prosecute white collar crimes with enhancements for how much money was involved. They do it with drug crimes and DUI's. Someone ripping off billions should be looking at doing hard time.
