Facebook news feeds beset with malware (BBC) {Oops, meant for GD}
Edited on Wed Nov-24-10 11:43 AM by eppur_se_muova
One fifth of Facebook users are exposed to malware contained in their news feeds, claim security researchers.

Security firm BitDefender said it had detected infections contained in the news feeds of around 20% of Facebook users.

By clicking on infected links in a news feed, users risk having viruses installed on their computer.

Facebook said it already had steps in place to identify and remove malware-containing links.

BitDefender arrived at its figures by analysing data from 14,000 Facebook users that had installed a security app, called safego, it makes for the social network site.

3. My wife lives on Facebook
And she's always complaining that her computer runs like crap. I fixed it twice and each time it had ten or more different infections that got through the antivirus software. But she would just go right back to playing the games and using some application a friend sent so I told her I had better things to do than fix her computer every weekend. Now she's going to have to live with a machine that takes over five minutes to boot up and ten seconds or more just to switch from one web page to another.
