Edited on Thu Nov-25-10 10:28 PM by Narkos
One of my libertarian friends alerted me to one of those Koch head think tank guys who have challenged Prof Krugman to a silly debate.....anyone else hear about this?

1. Paul Krugman vs the Big Giant Laissez Fail Forehead from Hell?
Put it this way - he wrote THIS book. For Regnery.

And I'm going to LISTEN to what this phenomenally biased asshole has to say?

7. Right wingers, plain and simple, are supremely burned up and infuriated at the fact . . .
. . . that FDR, A DEMOCRAT!, is considered one of our greatest and most effective presidents while their zero Reagan is usually mentioned as one of the most overrated and their other guy Bewsh II is usually topping the "WORST" category (along with Warren Harding, Nixon and Bush's old man).

They're also pissed off that their hatemonger war-happy heroes (Reagan, Nixon, both Bushes) will never, ever measure up to effective democratic presidents. They see the jobs records. They see the stock market performances. They see the wage suppression. They see the debt levels. Since they have nothing to run on, all they can do is defame, rewrite history and attack our candidates.

And for the most part, it works.

2. off the top of my head I think Krugman would not be wise to do this
the RWer can spout platitudes and cite data which is probably incomplete and suspect. Makes no difference what Krugman does, he won't change one mind.
But this blowhard wins anyway. If Krugman ignores him, he can claim a "victory."
Almost like a debate on religion where it is hard to prove either side conclusively.

4. You are thinking of Al Franken and the encounter was at a Book Expo in LA in 2003
It wasn't a debate, merely a panel type situation where Franken poked a bunch of fun at O'Reilly who was also there promoting his book at the time.

Here's part one of Frankens bit;

Here is the part where O'Reilly tells Franken to shut up;

8. The basic Austrian argument is that business while garnering record profits
is to scared to hire people. I know it sounds insane but there, in a nutshell, it is.
