Market Crash 2011: It will hit by Christmas

By Paul B. Farrell, MarketWatch

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (MarketWatch)

— Politicians lie. Bankers lie. Yes, they’re liars. But they’re not bad, it’s in their genes, inherited. Their brains are wired that way, warn scientists. Like addicts, they can’t help themselves. They want to sell stuff, get rich.

We want to believe they’re telling us the truth. Silly, huh? Both trapped in this eternal “dance of death” controlled by programs hidden deep in our brains, telling us what to do, telling us to ignore facts to the contrary — till it’s too late, till a new crisis crushes all of us.
Dow ends at 2 1/2-year high

Psychology offers us a powerful lesson: Our collective brain is destined to trigger a crash before Christmas 2011. Why? We’re gullible, keep searching for a truth-teller in a world of liars. And they’re so clever, we let them manipulate us into acting against our best interests.

In fact, behavioral science tells us that bankers and politicians are lying to us 93% of the time. It’s 13 times more likely Wall Street is telling you a lie than the truth. That’s why they win. Why we lose. Because our brains are preprogrammed to cooperate in their con game. Yes, we believe most of their lies.

2. Since Glass-Steagall was not reinstated
It'll happen some time.

I understand we're currently guaranteein over $2 Trillion of banker junk assets. I'm guessing we'll get pretty hosed by these assets in the next crash.

10. I think the technical term for those assets is "goat poop"..
according to the financial innovators who created them.

Yeah, we're fucked.

3. "...bankers and politicians are lying to us 93% of the time"
93%? Where the hell does a number like that come from? The author of the article cites no evidence, so as far as I can tell he's just pulling statistics from unamed "behavioral scien(tists)" out of his ass.

7. True plus that would assume people even know or find out they are being lied to.

9. Yeah, quite the number, eh?
It reminds me of an essay my daughter wrote once when she was seven or eight. It wasn't even for school. She just took out some lined notebook paper and wrote an essay on "Unfairness." Then brought it to the dinner table for everyone to read (family was visiting). The line that had everyone cracked up was: "Nearly 90% of all people are victims of unfairness."

This is seven-year-old writing.

4. Having to lie is part of a mask.
Edited on Fri Feb-25-11 11:48 PM by RandomThoughts
There is a way of building a persona that is not you, or that is not what you think is best, and hide from others and yourself by letting that persona start to be who people think you are.

That is why the concept of moving within your myth is important, myths try to set who you are, or the presentation of who you are to other people, if you 'go with' a dishonest presentation of who you are, that narrative begins to become who you are, although if you fight against that narrative to much, then it also sets who you are by getting you to expend thoughts and time on that defense.

A good analogy is the type casting of an actor, someone tries to paint a narrative of who someone is, you have to mentally step out of its effect on who you are. Then you can present yourself when expressing thought and concept.

So you move within your myth and step out of any narrative that tries to be set for you.

That type of living is a trap, and can drain the enjoyment out of life. That is where humility helps alot, and living within a form where you don't have to wear a mask.

8. Like battered spouse syndrome.
And the public always believes the oh-so-sincere promise that this time they've really changed.

12. Geithner and crew fully in charge. We're locked in a death spiral....
.. and Geithner is pushing the throttles forward. The cockpit announcer is screaming "Pull-up Pull Up.... Pull Up..." , while Mr. Obama is in the back drinking coffee with the cabin crew and telling them "Everything will be fine."

13. During the last crash, everyone went around saying,
"Anything that can't last forever wont." It had to come crashing down by simple logic.

I think the same thing can be said today.
