GM Adding 2,500 Jobs To Its Chevrolet Malibu, Volt Plant
By Chris Woodyard, USA TODAY

General Motors is adding 2,500 jobs at the plant where it makes two hot models -- its Malibu midsize car and Volt extended-range electric sedan.

That's a $69-million investment at the Hamtramck, Mich., plant. (All together now: Ham-TRAM-ick).

Demand is so vigorous the cars that GM wants to the plant to be capable of running around-the-clock. And in Michigan, one of the states impacted the most by unemployment, GM will creating 1,200 new jobs in addition to bringing back 1,300 laid-off workers. The new workers will be paid about $14 an hour.

"Filling this plant with new work is very satisfying because GM is dedicated to helping rebuild this city," Mark Reuss, the company's North American president, said in a statement.

2. But are now in a position to add jobs
Do you want 1000 new $14/hr jobs being created or more $30/hr jobs being lost?

3. Supermarket cashiers make $14/hr.
Welcome to serfdom, auto workers.

The class war is over, and the rich won.

4. WHERE do supermarket cashiers make $14 per hour?
Come out to teabagger heaven here and you'd find $14 per hour is at the high end of the pay scale for just about any field that doesn't require a Master's degree.

5. Are you kidding me?
Costco is considered a paragon of an employer on these boards because it pays its cashiers $10/hr instead of the min. wage that most places pay.
