Economic Experts Say Politics Has Doomed The US
Economic Experts Gather In DC To Explain Why Politics Has Doomed Us
BRIAN BEUTLER DECEMBER 9, 2011, 6:00 AM

...snip...

In their paper, and their presentation, the authors listed several steps governments and government-aligned institutions could take to hasten recovery. But in the U.S., the most important step would require more, not less, government spending — and that’s just not in the cards given the current state of American politics.

...snip...

To provide the stimulus, the authors strongly favor the U.S. government acting as a direct purchaser and hirer, instead of increasing program benefits and otherwise putting more money in consumer pockets, as the payroll tax cut is designed to do. But in either case, the government isn’t prepared to act in proportion to the problem, if at all.

1. As long as the two parties only share the goal of destroying each other...
...and nothing else, it's a certainty that our goverment
will accomplish nothing. And we're living in an age when
we're desperate for some good governance; it's been at
least 30 years since this country has seen any.

But I don't see the current stalemate ending soon; the
two parties will just keep swapping roles every several
years.

So yes, given our current politics, economically,
we're definitely doomed.

2. I don't think that the Democrats are trying to destroy the Republicans.
But, obviously, the Republicans have no scruples about destroying anything that them deem is in their way to obtaining power. Unfortunately, the American people have been unable to fight off the barrage of propaganda that is telling them to vote for those who are working against their interests.

3. The GOP is evil. Democrats are imperfect. There is a big
difference.

4. Actually, a small but significant number of "Democrats" appear to be fully Evil.
And many other Democrats are simply ineffective.

A very few are both effective and good.

5. POLITICS destroyed the economy?? BS.
Politicians, maybe, who sold out to the highest rich bidder. On both sides of the aisle.
And on all sides of many aisles in Europe.

Politics is just the side show to keep us from looking too closely at how united the banksters really are in creating crisis after crisis which always ends up with more money being given to them.
While economists argue endlessly about theories of money and then chant " No one could have forseeeen...."
when their theory proves to have failed.
