YOUR Carbon footprint....?
Has anyone tried the UK Government's personal CO2 calculator yet?

It was launched on Wednesday, but I couldn't get on it until today due to the heavy traffic on the site.
I ended up with a higher carbon footprint than I thought (must have been that long-haul flight last year that did it....)

It's here:

Are you ready to act on CO2?

4. Mine is 3.3, but that's a high number due to disability
because they didn't have an option for my electric moped. Factor that in, and I'd probably hit the target since transportation is what got my number that high.

Public transportation here SUCKS and it's hard for somebody with arthritis to cope with those huge steps on the city bus.

5. carbon rationing
Edited on Sat Jun-23-07 12:14 AM by hg4
slightly OT..

Heard a lecture recently indicating that the concept of per-citizen
carbon rationing is catching on in Britain. The argument is that
unilateral actions by individuals while good will never be enough.
Per the lecture we have 3-5 years max before it's too late to
stop global warming.

They mention the concept of "love miles" - I was listening to
this lecture on an MP3 player wile driving my 755 "love miles"
to visit my 90 year old parents ;->
I should have gone w/o heat in order to save up the carbon rations,
before driving, so they say. IIRC the lecture was from "unwelcome guests: -
