Global American Energy Holding Co. wants to build the $75 million plant in Mogadore, and has already signed an agreement with the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority to issue bonds to build it.
The facility would convert nonrecyclable trash from the Akron area and process it into ethanol, a fuel additive for gasoline.
Company officials say they’ll contract with local trash haulers around northeast Ohio to dump trash at the facility, rather than into local landfills.
The company says the plant will take in about 600 tons of trash each day and produce 55,000 gallons of ethanol from the waste, according to The Beacon Journal.
