Britain approves new nuclear reactors, to green fury

LONDON (AFP) — The British government approved Thursday a new generation of nuclear power stations, describing the move as "compelling" but infuriating environmentalists who are considering a legal challenge.

The new stations are expected to be built with private sector help to ensure the future security of supplies and a balanced energy "mix", amid mounting global concern over long-term oil and gas provision and cost.

"Set against the challenges of climate change and security of supply, the evidence in support of new nuclear power stations is compelling", Business Secretary John Hutton told parliament in a widely-expected announcement.

1. Ecological Modernisation
It was only a matter of time. Brown had laid out the path to this decision and his speech in November calling for a fourth technological revolution just confirmed it.
Then again with the time left to pull our fingers out due to the way by which climate change and peak oil has been ignored you can see the logic. Then again that's what they would like you to think isn't it.

2. It's a rare place where ignorance loses.
It won't do much - because anti-nuke fools have already sentenced humanity to a climate tragedy of unbelievable proportions - but it's a step in the right direction.

The so called "greens" who object are simply and totally uneducated fools, and the damage they have done already to world climate and european air is enormous.
