For eco-friendly New Yorkers eager to test out hydrogen fuel-cell cars, there's always been one major drawback - the half-hour drive for free fillups in Ardsley, Westchester County.

That's about to change: Within the next few weeks, the city could see two new hydrogen refueling stations, one at Kennedy Airport and the other in the Bronx.

The easier-to-reach stations could push more city dwellers to test cars like the Chevrolet Equinox, powered by a fuel cell that converts oxygen and hydrogen into electricity.

General Motors is lending out the prototype Equinox to 100 drivers at a time, including a handful in city suburbs, as part of its "Project Driveway" initiative.
