http://www.renewableenergyworld.com/rea/news/story?id=54356Vestas has received an order for 300 megawatts (MW)d of offshore turbines for the Thanet Offshore Wind Farm in the UK. Consisting of 100 units of the V90-3.0 MW machine, the project and will be located 11.3 kilometers offshore from Foreness Point in the Thames Estuary on the easternmost part of the Kent coastline.
The order has been placed by Vattenfall Wind Power and includes design, supply, construction, testing and commissioning of the 100 wind turbines as well as a five-year operation and maintenance contract.
Vattenfall is responsible for foundations, offshore and onshore cables with substations and offshore installation vessels. Delivery of the turbines is expected to take place during 2009 and 2010, and installation of the wind power plant will take place in 2010.
