Wind tower maker cutting about 20 percent of jobs
Wind tower manufacturer DMI Industries says it's cutting about 20 percent of its work force, six months after announcing a major expansion.

A statement from the company says the cuts will be spread across the company's three sites in North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Ontario.

It cites declining demand resulting from ``difficult credit conditions.'' The company says that even with the cuts, it still has more than 150 workers more than last year, and a total of more than 750 employees in its three production facilities.

Last June, DMI announced it was adding as many as 75 employees to its West Fargo plant as part of a $20 million expansion to increase its production of wind towers.

DMI is a unit of Otter Tail Corp. of Fergus Falls, Minn. It has plants in West Fargo and in Tulsa, Okla., and Fort Erie, Ontario.

1. This is a damned shame
A wind farm was recently built near us. It's a thing of beauty, the wind towers reaching toward the heavens and lazily circling in the summer breeze. It's almost unbelievable that such a peaceful scene is producing all that energy. I can sit and watch them for hours. The same company is building several other windfarms in Illinois and Indiana (No, can't remember their name, sorry!)

3. Thank you! Let me return the favor.
While I did not intend any sarcasm at all, I appreciate the desire to help. Let me return the favor: You've been had. The sites listed all appear to have been created by the same person(s) and/or from the same set of bad information. Some if it I personally know to be untrue. Some of it is unverifiable. Some of it is ridiculous tinfoil hattery on the face of it.

Thanks again!
