Incentives for more wind and solar power. Help for companies looking to manufacture turbines and solar panels. New efficiency standards for new state buildings. Stricter renewable requirements for utilities.

No new coal plants.

That's the gist of some ambitious proposals unveiled today by Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and Lt. Gov. Mark Parkinson.

The pair said this morning that the time has come for Kansas to live up to its promise when it comes to renewables, and that doing so could create jobs and create a stable and environmentally friendly energy system too.
