Boy's remains found in crocodile (Queensland flooding)
Remains found in a crocodile caught near where a five-year-old went missing in the far north Queensland Daintree River are those of the youngster. Jeremy Doble disappeared on February 8 after he followed his dog into the river where his parents run a tour company.

Jeremy's seven-year-old brother, Ryan, told police he saw a crocodile in the water moments later. The trapped croc was taken to a veterinary clinic in Cairns on Friday to determine if it was the one that took the boy.

Police last night confirmed material found in the reptile's stomach during a surgical procedure and examined at the John Tonge Centre forensic lab in Brisbane, were those of the young boy. The family are reportedly distraught, but have requested the crocodile not be put down.

3. Those salties are vicious
We saw some of them when we were in Australia. They're sprinters, and can snap their jaws with something like 4000 lbs of pressure. While this is tragic, it's not surprising.

5. Not sure I'd say vicious- more like mechanical and astonishingly efficient
And unfortunately, it's not surprising. Indeed, what surprises me is that there haven't been more tragedies like this.

4. What a horrible way to die!
It's unimaginable what that kid must have been feeling during those last few seconds. I hope it was over quickly.

RIP, Jeremy.

7. It seems to be a different attitude in Australia - didn't the family of the man
killed be a shark a few months ago argue against retribution as well? Two anecdotes are a data set, but I tend to believe that there's less of a 'dominion over nature' attitude in the upside down part of the world...

9. What will happen if the same croc kills again?
They'll tag it so we'll know if it acts again.
