Review of Lexus hybrid SUV
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FirstDrives/articleId=103268?tid=edmunds.h..insideline.promo.1.*

It's a quick preview, but apparently it has the best mileage of any SUV (besting the Ford Escape) and has 268 total horsepower using 2 electric motors plus a V6.

They have more preorders for it than any car in Lexus history. Good thing Nissan, GM, and Chrysler are kind enough to leave this market to Toyota & Honda, eh?

1. I have a Prius...
But if I still had a family with small kids, and hence the need for a larger vehicle, this vehicle would be on the list for consideration.

2. How do you like your prius?
There was one parked next to me the other day so I peeked inside (through the window of course.) I was impressed.

3. Great car!
I have a 2002, so the first design, and have 37,000 miles on it. No problems whatsoever, and it is a no-compromise car.

4. Aren't they supposed to come out with a Toyota version in the next
year or so, kind of a scaled down one that might be more affordable?

I'd love this thing, but I can't afford it, not even close :)

I'll tell you one thing, if Nissan would get their asses in gear and build a hybride, I'd be very interested. I've owned Nissans for over 10 years now, and love 'em :). Give me a hybrid Sentra!!!!

5. Yes, the Highlander...
I dunno about how affordable it will be though, since the MSRP will still top out around $40K or so!

Personally, I'm waiting for the day when one of the auto manufacturers (probably Toyota, again) puts out a hybrid minivan.

6. Rumors of a Sienna for 2007
Toyota has publicly mentioned they may do a Sienna, with this same drivetrain, for 2007. Maybe.

I'd buy one. Around then we'll be considering a third child and our Saab wagon will be a little cramped with 3 car seats. Plus a loaded-up minivan would do great with the electic motor torque at low speeds.

8. Very nice
Of course, I can't afford one any time soon. But at least some of these will replace the less fuel-effiecient models on the roadways.
