American Energy Alliance is full of shit
On their website, American Energy Alliance says:
About Us
AEA has no ties to any political party, and it has no interest in supporting the agenda of any particular political party. AEA is an issue organization that supports affordable, abundant and reliable energy for America’s consumers and businesses.

Who runs this front group with "no ties to any political party"?
Meet the Staff
Thomas J. Pyle
President

You might remember him from this photo - he's in the front row:

No. 1. Tom Pyle, who had worked for Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Tex.), went private sector a few months later, getting a job as director of federal affairs for Koch Industries.

"No ties to any political party" my ass.

Now here is where it gets really confusing, apparently by design.

The AEA also says on its website it was “founded in May, 2008.”

But Sourcewatch (here) points to a 1993 Time magazine article (here)

The New Mexico Independent try to uncover information about the group last July:

FYI, To read more about the American Energy Alliance, which ran about $650,000 worth of ads last fall to blast Sen. Mitch McConnell’s opponent and also to weigh in on the Colorado and Mississippi Senate races, see our story with links to the FEC reports here:

http://www.publicintegrity.org/blog/entry/870/

The group is run by Thomas Pyle, former aide to Tom DeLay, who may be better known as one of the “Brooks Brothers’ rioters” who stormed Miami-Dade polling headquarters during the Bush-Gore recount. Also did lobbying work for the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association before joining AEA. Hope you find our brief report informative!
Best,

The Center for Public Integrity

Yes, Marianne, your brief report is very informative.
