Was watching something about salmon mites and other
problems resulting from or exacerbated by farming salmon. I've often wondered if a solid cofferdam should be built around these facilities water returned estuary, bay, etc. could be closely monitored and filtered for salmon mites, effluent, etc. and this would cutoff or largely reduce contact with wild stocks,

I lived for about 3 years in Wash. State .... I loved it in the summer ... anyway, this is just something I was thinking about

1. Not sure about that
but the Cousteau special about whales and salmon that has been showing on PBS has the recommendation that all farmed fish be contained as is required in some other countries.
It is a shame that the natural resource of almon has been ruined because the farmed fish is a poor substitute - taste and nutrition. To say nothing of their quality of life - not much.
