India Moves To Make Solar Water Heaters Mandatory For Commercial Buildings, And Large Residential Complexes, By 2012

May 25, 2009 6:32 p.m. EST

Linda Young - AHN Editor

New Delhi, India (NewsBahn) - India's government will make using solar heating systems mandatory in all commercial buildings as part of the National Solar Mission.

The first phase, to be implemented between 2009 and 2012, will make it compulsory for all hospitals, guest houses, hotels and nursing homes to install solar water heaters.

Any residential complex with a minimum plot area of 5,381 square feet will have to install solar water heaters too.

This move is part of an effort to enhance expansion of the use of renewable energy sources.

Sounds like you're “Confusious” alright.

Frequently, solar hot water heaters are used in parallel with a "conventional" water heater.

However, your problem may be as simple as too small a storage tank for your needs.
