Replacing the Light Bulb With...Glowing Wallpaper?
In the realm of energy efficiency, lighting has received an immense amount of attention. Constructing more efficient bulbs has been the primary target. However, a U.K. company, Lomox has turned its focus toward creating luminescent wallpaper that could be more efficient than the the best light bulbs on the market.

It may not replace the light bulb--I don't think it is designed to--but it offers another energy efficient lighting source. And, it also turns an interior decoration into an energy source.

Lomox, a tech company based in Wales, has patented a new chemical composition for their OLED membranes which they say will bring luminescent wallpaper to the market by 2012.

That's right, folks, wall paper that acts as a light-emitting diode and glows. Recently awarded approximately $730,000 USD from the United Kingdom's Department of Energy and Climate Change's (DECC) Carbon Trust, Lomox claims its wallpaper could be two-and-a-half times more efficient than energy saving bulbs and could make a big contribution to meeting Britain’s target of cutting carbon emissions by 34 per cent by 2020.

3. Why don't light tubes collect solar energy?
I love my light tubes, it's a shame they aren't installed in every house. But why don't they collect energy so I can turn them on at night?
