Nice little story to start the week:
Everyone thinks about saving energy at home, but how often do you think about it in school?
It’s harder for teachers and students to take energy into consideration when they’re not the ones paying the bills. Yet, for most school districts, energy is the second largest expenditure (after personnel). Today, most schools are struggling to make ends meet and reducing energy costs can save money without compromising educational quality.
In Georgia, Marietta City Schools (MCS) decided to do something about energy consumption. MCS launched a system-wide competition in September 2009 to see if its schools could significantly reduce energy consumption and costs.
