Vermont Community Wind Farm announced Monday it had "no current plans to proceed" with building what would have been the state's largest wind farm in and around Ira.

Spokesman Jeffrey Wennberg said the company was too uncertain about certain aspects of the permitting process to go forward, but that developer Per White-Hansen would hold onto leases associated with the project.

"There's a potential to bring the project back, but circumstances would have to change," Wennberg said. "He's not selling the leases."

Wennberg said the company was concerned with the way stormwater issues with other proposed projects in the state remained unresolved and with questions over habitat protection at Herrick Mountain, the site of the bulk of the project.

Wennberg said the habitat issue was not something that had been identified at the start of the process.

"It arose, very unexpectedly, late in the game," he said. "We said all along we did not want to proceed without (Vermont Agency of Natural Resources) support."

Anyone who pays attention knows that there are important site design and environmental considerations. Not every site will be good for wind or solar. Just common sense.

Nuclear looks great to me, since I've been studying it intensively for decades.

Basically I find it pretty nearly impossible to explain anything at all about nuclear power to anti-nukes, since they in general don't know a damn thing about nuclear energy and hate it because they are incompetent to understand a damn thing about it.

Trying to convince an anti-nuke that nuclear science is a beautiful and challenging science is rather like trying to convince a person who has been deaf since birth that Mozart is beautiful.

It's not like there is a single anti-nuke on this planet who has ever stayed up late considering phase diagrams related to ternary potassium cesium pertechnates or wondered to themselves about vortex shedding in systems having low Prandtl numbers. Mostly, from what I can tell, they just google there way to websites where people know even less science than they do themselves.

Have a nice scientifically oblivious morning.

Do you really think the post above is productive? Maybe it makes you feel better, but is it worth it if you alienate half the readers who will interpret your tone and view it as condescension? Well, anyway, keep it up. A good rant like that certainly has more of an affect on your image and reputation than it hurts me.

4. Anyone else notice coordinated articles on the topic.

It seems, when topics come up, they come up in many places. It could be people reacting off other people, or an attempt to create a social change.

There was an article saying wind power is cheaper, and so private energy companies don't like them.
Then Simpson show trashes wind power.
Then article after article about scaling back on wind.
Then articles about how it has flaws.
Then an article that Australia did not want to move forward on climate issues without cooperation.
then an article same thing about Germany.


Almost like someone trying to snowball a societal change on an issue.
