The alpha male wolf of the Imnaha pack -- Oregon's largest wolf pack -- has been photographed alive, the East Oregonian newspaper of Pendleton reports. The 115 pound wolf, which was thought to have vanished May 31, was photographed by a remote camera on Aug. 11.
From The East Oregonian:
"ODFW published a grainy nighttime photo showing the wolf wearing his radio collar with the pack's alpha female walking behind him on a trail. "As usual, the location of the camera was not revealed."
Biologists told The Oregonian's Richard Cockle earlier this month that the wolf was either dead of unknown causes, his radio collar had malfunctioned or he'd departed Oregon.
