Breaking: Offshore Oil Rig Explodes Off Louisiana Coast
Another offshore oil rig has exploded in the Gulf of Mexico.

The explosion happened on a rig owned by Mariner Energy around 80 miles south of Vermilion Bay along the central Louisiana coast. The blast was first reported at 9:30 a.m. central time. The Coast Guard is mounting a full response, sending seven helicopters, two plans, and four boats to the site. All 13 crew members have been located in the water, and one is reported injured.

1. Remarkably quiet thread for such a topic?
Bonus points for irony though ...

Just a day before one of its offshore oil rigs exploded, Mariner Energy, and its parent company Apache Corporation, participated in a rally in Houston protesting against the Obama administration's offshore drilling moratorium.
...
Among the thousands at the rally was Barbara Dianne Hagood, senior landman for Mariner Energy. She stated:
"I have been in the oil and gas industry for 40 years, and this administration is trying to break us. The moratorium they imposed is going to be a financial disaster for the gulf coast, gulf coast employees and gulf coast residents."
