Hurricane Dennis continues to grow stronger in the central Caribbean this morning. As of 8 a.m. ET, Dennis was a strong Category 2 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 105 m.p.h.
By this weekend, Dennis may be a very dangerous hurricane plowing NNW through the eastern Gulf of Mexico. All interests along the Gulf Coast from Louisiana to the west coast of Florida should monitor the progress of Dennis very carefully.
Four Atlantic weather systems -- Arlene, Bret, Cindy and Dennis -- reached Tropical Storm status by July 5, the earliest for so many named storms in recorded history. Dennis is the first hurricane of the 2005 Atlantic season.
The remnants of what was once Topical Storm Cindy continue to cause problems across parts of the Southeast.
