Bright side of the hurricane: US Drought regions in path.
The path of the hurricane will impact some areas facing extreme drought.

I remember when the remnants of hurricane Fran flooded my state, New Jersey. Although in many ways it was a tragedy, it had not rained here for months. We thought our well would go dry.

The stream near my home, which had been dry for quite some time, probably reached close to 2 meters. It normally is a few centimeters deep.

That hurricane gave us water in this region for quite some time.

This is in no way intended to minimize the extreme risks faced by the people of the Florida panhandle, the losses they will inevitably face and the fact that any relief they get will have to pass through the Republican corruption machine before getting to them.

2. That's what I'm hoping
NE Indiana is in real need - farmers aren't doing well. If Dennis will only stay together long enough to make it up this far ...

5. No.
I looked at the radar at 5 AM - showed it was close. Nothing happened, like it all dissipated.

There's a chance that after it gets into Illinois some pressure system will move it this way. Keeping my fingers crossed.

4. Yep, Sunny Skies in Indiana
In West Lafayette, today was the first cloudy day in two weeks and it will rain tommorrow for the third or fourth time this vacation (which, for me, began on May 27).

The interesting thing is that this June it almost never rained in WL, but just last June, it was always raining. This June is the driest on record, whereas last year was the wettest.
