I wonder if it's economically feasible, environmentally advantageous and actually energy efficient or if it's another ethanol/biodiesel boondoggle?

3. Melting polyester to make yarn or plastic outdoor decking makes sense to me
It only takes a modest amount of heat and directly displaces heat that would have been used to make virgin polyester yarn or new "plastic outdoor decking".
