Some good news for a change
Today, Lake Mead behind the Hoover Dam will cross the 50% full line for the first time since March 2008. Total inflows for this water year which ends on the September 30th are 214% of average. Due to good water releases from Lake Powell upstream, Mead has had near continuous increases in storage for the summer where water levels normally begin to fall in January or February every year. Mead was also able to release more water this year than regulated, nearing 700,000 acre feet extra (228 Billion gallons).
