Canadians Open to Oil Nationalization

1. More kudos for my progressive Canadian friends...
What is it that makes our closest friends and neighbors so much more forward-thinking? Maybe we should get more Americans to drink Labatts or Molson!!

2. Imagine that, the government controlling the oil industry.
They should try our way, the oil industry controls the government. Sure is working fine for us.

5. We ought to auction our oil rights
Not so much a fan of running them federally, but I would definitely support open auction of extraction rights - such that we get full value for them, rather than giving them away at pennies on the dollar.

I'm of the opinion that natural resources are the common birthright of all of us, and to allow any one entity dominion over a portion of them should require compensation to the rest of us.

6. Since corporations don't care about third party loses - unless they
can use the third party "externalities" to their benefit - à la Katrina - perhaps it is the healthiest thing to do. Afterall - we not only are responsible for air around our cities & farms - but also the very vulnerable and important arctic. And those ice-shelves.

Very important to the climate of the world.
