Beluga body scrub session filmed

A film crew has captured the remarkable scene of hundreds of beluga whales indulging in a mass "body scrub" to slough off their skin.

The mammals come en masse into shallow Arctic estuaries where scrubbing their bodies on the stony seabed helps them moult their skin.

"They definitely seem to enjoy it," recalled director Elizabeth White.

Filming for the BBC documentary Frozen Planet, she and her team captured the behaviour up close and from the air.

1. Frozen Planet?? Frozen Planet!!
Isn't this the documentary series that Americans are, in part, not able to watch--because
the powers-that-be determined that we Americans don't need to learn about science
and global warming?

Are you sure we should be watching this?

Did the Koch Brothers, the neocons, the Bushes, and Jamie Dimon say agree to this? I don't want to upset the overlords.

3. Here is a link to an article about it...
"British viewers will see seven episodes, the last of which deals with global warming and the threat to the natural world posed by man.

However, viewers in other countries, including the United States, will only see six episodes.

The environmental programme has been relegated by the BBC to an “optional extra” alongside a behind-the-scenes documentary which foreign networks can ignore.

Campaigners said the decision not to incorporate the episode on global warming as part of the main package was “unhelpful”.

They added that it would allow those countries which are sceptical of climate change to “censor” the issue."
