Wolf Massacre Gets Underway in Northern Rockies

Since Congress unconstitutionally stripped federal protections from northern Rockies wolves, Idaho and Montana have sold almost 37,000 wolf tags for hunts this fall. Idaho will allow the slaughter of the vast majority of its estimated 700 to 1,000 wolves, requiring only 150 be spared, while Montana hopes to kill 220 of its 556 to 645 wolves this year. In 2011 hunters have shot 201 wolves, and the federal predator-killing agency known as "Wildlife Services" has killed an additional 94 in the two states.

The Center for Biological Diversity and allies are in court to challenge the congressional rider that removed these wolves from the endangered species list. "The Endangered Species Act rightly put scientists, not politicians, in charge of deciding which species get protection," said the Center's Noah Greenwald. "Wolves once roamed most of North America, but were wiped off the map by intolerance and persecution -- which persist today. Wolf recovery is far from complete."

Wimpy right wingers couldn't handle sharing some space with the wolves.

4. It is a religiously motivated massacre.
Since a wolf and lion represent Egypt and Babylon they are considered spiritual equals. A lion represents Satan, so a wolf can also represent Satan.
Several Bible references the wolf to the middle East/Jerusalem. You can bet that the shooters are not only NRA but religious nutbags.

6. OK, I'm confused ...
> In 2011 hunters have shot 201 wolves, and the federal predator-killing
> agency known as "Wildlife Services" has killed an additional 94 in the
> two states.

> Idaho will allow the slaughter of the vast majority of its estimated 700 to 1,000
> wolves, requiring only 150 be spared, while Montana hopes to kill 220 of
> its 556 to 645 wolves this year.

First off, have the above 295 wolves been deducted from the estimates of
"700-1000" and "556-645" wolves that they are reporting as their total populations?

Secondly, even if the upper estimate of the totals are true & honest values,
that makes the total population 1645 ... so how can they issue over twenty-two
times that number of wolf tags?

> Idaho and Montana have sold almost 37,000 wolf tags for hunts this fall.

:wtf:

Twenty-two times the total population?

Seriously, WTF?

7. so how can they issue over twenty-two times that number of wolf tags?
At about $32 for non-residents and $12 for state residents, selling wolf tags is big money for the state fish and game department.

The wolf killers (so-called hunters) know going in that if they do not get their wolf before the kill-limit is reached, then they are sh*t out of luck. That is how this game is played, so the shooters feel it is worth the expense to get a chance to aim their penis enlarger at a wolf in the wild.

Some shooters will do better than others by setting out illegal bait stations, and then sitting in a tree stand with their bottle of whiskey waiting for a hapless pack of wolves to be attracted to the rotting meat.

9. Sorry - I know *why* they do it (greed), I just want to know *how* they can possibly justify it?
i.e.,

I can see that the issuing body makes more profit the more tags that it sells.

I can see that there is no shortage of dickless retards ready to buy those tags.

What I can't see is how they can in any way *justify* over-selling the entire
population of wolves in those states by a factor of 22+.

I know they're fucking thick but hasn't anyone explained to them how numbers work?

:argh:

Edited on Sat Nov-19-11 08:38 AM by backwoodsbob
the wolf in the last pic would weigh about 400 lbs unless the guy holding him is a midget.if I see any 400+ lb wolves I am shooting to kill too.

My Buddy Guy is a Bernard mix who goes almost 180 and that wolf makes 5 of him

13. How much do adult wolves weigh? (top)

Wolves vary greatly in size depending on where they live. The smallest wolves live in the southern parts of the Middle East where the Arabian wolf may weigh no more than 30 pounds. Adult female gray wolves in northern Minnesota weigh between 50 and 85 pounds, and adult males between 70 and 110 pounds. Gray wolves are larger in the northwestern United States, Canada, and Alaska and in Russia where adult males weigh 85 to 115 pounds and occasionally reach 130 pounds. Males generally weigh about 20 percent more than females. Wolves attain their adult height, length and weight in the first one to two years. Most look like adults by late autumn of their first year.

Red wolves are intermediate in size and appearance between a gray wolf and a coyote. Adult female red wolves weigh 40 to 75 pounds, while males weigh from 50 to 85 pounds.

14. How long and tall are wolves? (top)

As with weight, a wolf's length and height are variable in different areas of the world. The figures that follow are commonly used to describe the larger subspecies of wolves in North America, Europe and central Asia. They are not accurate for several of the smaller subspecies in the southern latitudes of the Middle East, for example. The average length (tip of nose to tip of tail) of an adult female gray wolf is 4.5 to 6 feet; adult males average 5 to 6.5 feet. The average height (at the shoulder) of a gray wolf is 26 to 32 inches.

The average length (tip of nose to tip of tail) of an adult red wolf is 4.5 to 5.5 feet. The average height (at the shoulder) of an adult red wolf is about 26 inches.

my Bernard weighs MUCH MORE than the average wolf and every wolf in those pics makes 4 to 5 of him.

The one in the last pic...if standing on his hind legs...would be 8 feet tall.

The one in the last pic would be as big as a small cow

17. They grow to 6.5 feet long and the ones in the photos are about 5 feet long.
Your experience/photo with your dog doesn't prove the photos to be fake. Lacking more convincing proof of fraud and given the known size range of wolves as expressed at the specialty website, I'd assume them to be real.

I don't want to see a single wolf shot..I raised an arctic..they are amazing animals...I just don't think fake photo's of wolves as big as cows helps to save them..it serves the opposite...they can use that photo to prove how dangerous they are *and they arent..my arctic was the biggest baby I ever owned*

I'm not against you on this Khris..I don't want them killed...I just think photoshopped pics dont help

I just think you are basing your opinion too much on your personal experience and not enough of the objective fact that they grow to 6.5 ft long. The ones in the photo are about 5 ft from snout to butt.

26. You really owe me one for this...
Edited on Sat Nov-19-11 04:22 PM by kristopher
Just looking at this pornography has caused a serious imbalance in my karmic equilibrium. I love animals, and none more than dogs, so the process of finding this particular set of photos was very, very disturbing.

In any case, the website those photos came from claims Canadian subspecies has a record size of 197 lbs - which is the wolf in two outside photos.
This is the site the photo was drwn from: http://www.huntandtell.com/tag/wolf/

Now, at a different website we see another brave and intrepid hunter delighting in his masculinity for having killed what he estimated was a 180 lb Canadian wolf. However, this set of photos includes two poses with his glorious trophy - one where the wolf is laid at his feet in a positioning that is not designed to take advantage of perspective to enhance the size of the "trophy" and two more where he is holding the same wolf in the upright position just as the photos under dispute are posed.
http://www.skinnymoose.com/bbb/2010/02/24/idaho-panhandle-man-bags-first-wolf/

What this set of photos also gives us is a reference to an actual evaluation by a regional wildlife manager.

"That wolf was indeed a nice mature male, but the head was not any larger than the other males for which we have verified weights. Here’s the up to date graph for Panhandle wolves killed, with the weights from the transplanted wolves included as well. The average adult male weights have ranged from 89 to 126, averaging 105 lbs. Recently a 128 pound wolf was verified taken downstate in another zone. We’ll get wolves in the 130 to 140 pound range over time, maybe even a little higher, but nothing in that range yet. The largest transplanted wolf was 135 lbs. 180 lbs is silly."
http://www.spokesman.com/blogs/hbo/2010/feb/24/fg-manager-wolf-wasnt-180-pounds/

I sympathize with your motives, and agree with your perception that the exaggerated claims are designed to both boost the egos of these cretins and to promote for profit hunting of the wolves. However, there is simply no basis for the claim that the images are not legitimate depictions of these very large, very furry creatures after they've been needlessly slaughtered for for a bit meaningless amusement.

So as I said, you owe. I can't tell you how much I disliked the task of looking through those photos.

10. They are talking about extending the hunt for another month here in Montana
As of last week only 73 wolves have been killed, the state quota is 220 wolves. It seems that those pesky wolves are a lot harder to kill than originally thought.

Seriously, there are a lot of them out here and they need to be thinned a bit so the other wildlife can survive too. If you have an issue with that please come get a few and take them home with you, I think they might do well in Central Park.

What do you do when your house gets infested with mice or cockroaches?

The ratio of predator to prey maintained a healthy balance in nature for millions of years before Montanans came along, or any humans for that matter, so the "thinning" excuse doesn't fly in the face of facts.
