A Chinese company says it plans to build electric buses in the Treasure Valley (Boise)
Zonda USA met with local officials earlier this year and announced its intentions to move its headquarters to Boise in 2011.

“We’re still hoping to get there by the end of the year,” said Ken St. John, the company’s spokesman.

Manufacturing the full-sized electric buses somewhere in the Treasure Valley could follow soon, he said.

“We’re not talking years,” he said.

1. The doomers will hate this, just like they hate the opposite
When Ford builds a plant in China, it's terrible because "American" jobs are going to China.

When a Chinese company builds a plant here, it's NOT "Chinese" jobs coming here, it's just taking advantage of our consumers and sending all the money to China.

Ford of course is not doing the same thing.

Either jobs or profits are the only important thing to doomers, depending entirely on which is outside the US.

2. Here's hoping they soon land some major sales too!
With all of the chatter about electric cars, range anxiety and
whatnot, I hadn't realised that there was so much going on in
the background with electric buses - a transport system that
is *designed* for relatively short distance hops with built-in
pauses at bus-stops!

Thanks for posting that (and for the little browsing side-route
that I ended up doing as a result!).
