Pesticides in Almost All Rivers, Streams
http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/tech/2006/mar/03/030308054.html

WASHINGTON - Pesticides linked to cancer, birth defects and neurological disorders contaminate almost all of the nation's rivers and streams and most fish found in them, but seldom at concentrations likely to affect people, government scientists said Friday.

Though the pesticides were less common in ground water, the U.S. Geological Survey's study of data between 1992 and 2001 found them present in streams in both urban and agricultural areas at concentrations that could affect aquatic life or fish-eating wildlife.

1. Thank Bob Dole.
He has successfully kept pesticides that are illegal in Canada and Mexico in use in the U.S.

Pesticides are a killer of people and the environment yet, like so much else, it's legal due to the profits over people thinking.

America - It's all about the Money!

3. This is a very good reason for all of us to have
carbon filtered water. Don't drink straight tap water anywhere, anymore.

4. According to my civil engineer wife...
...there is also hormones from birth control pills, and drugs like prozac, in the water supply. They can't filter these out of the waste water when they treat it. Animals and agriculture use all the water with that stuff still in it. All water plants are going to have to be upgraded to filter it all out.
